About

A Little Bit of Green is for people who want to live busy, fulfilling lives but not at the expense of their health. Who want to make money and still have the energy to enjoy it. Who want to spend time with their kids and still be able to catch them.
I give advice on subjects including:
- Integrating healthy eating and exercise into your every day life.
- Modifying favorite foods to make them tasty and good for you.
- When an environmental concern is important for you and your family
- Watching health trends to tell what’s important and what’s just another fad.
- Getting kids, significant others, etc (and not to mention you) to eat their vegetables and like them.
What I do NOT do:
- I don’t recommend nutrition in a bottle. It’s big business for a lot of people but I believe vitamins should come from food and not little pills.
- I don’t spout the latest nutritional fads. I’m very tired of hearing carbs are great one week and evil the next. I believe all food can be good in balance and too much of almost anything can be bad.
- I don’t think you should turn your life upside down and suddenly force yourself and family to eat faux vegan meatballs when you’ve been used steak. In turn I don’t expect vegans to suddenly start eating steak. It’s possible to make minor changes and still enjoy favorite foods.
I hope I can help you and your family lead a healthier life so you can enjoying good food, fun, active times together and a long, happy life.
Who is Rose?
My journey started 2 years ago when my 9 month old became very sick. After a long journey she was diagnosed with a corn allergy that left her unable to eat 99% of modern foods. From the obvious like corn syrup sweetened deserts to the less obvious like tomatoes canned with citric acid or apples coated in wax we had to rethink our entire eating style.
The hidden blessing in this problem was by being forced to change I suddenly discovered it was possible to change. In the past I cooked from scratch and gardened when I felt I had the time. Now I’ve learned how to do it in the time I have. In the past I bought organic or farmers market when it was convenient. Now, I’ve learned how to make it convenient. In the past I was, well, organizationally challenged. Now, well, I’m organizationally improving. (If you want perfect you should probably be reading www.marthastewart.com.)
